Mezzo-Soprano

Nicole Rodin is a mezzo-soprano from Glencoe, Illinois who is currently pursuing her Master’s at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. At NEC, Nicole has performed the roles of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti and Hansel in Hansel and Gretel. Nicole has also been featured by NEC’s Contemporary Music Ensemble with whom she performed Samuel Barber’s Hermit Songs in Jordan Hall in April.

 

This spring, Nicole made her company debut with Boston Lyric Opera as Rosina in the outreach performance of The Barber of Seville. Nicole will be returning to Boston Lyric Opera’s outreach program in 2011 to sing Hansel in Hansel and Gretel. For the last two summers, Nicole was a part of the Janiec Opera Company at Brevard Music Center, singing the roles of Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Second lady in Die Zauberflöte,, Irene Malloy in Hello Dolly and covering the role of Meg in Little Women. In the past year, Nicole was awarded first place in the 2009 Peter Elvins Vocal Competition, second place in the 2009 Bel Canto Foundation Competition in Chicago and was a finalist in the New England region of the 2009 Metropolitan National Council Auditions. Nicole has been selected to participate in a Fellowship program with Opera Boston next year in conjunction with further studies at NEC. Nicole is a student of Carole Haber.
