"Join us in Rotary Park for a magical evening of Romance and Culture"
If you think you’d enjoy a moonlit evening listening to some of the world’s most immortal opera classics - join the Hartford Festival Orchestra and Singers - Brian Sparks, Music Director and Conductor, Enzo Boscarino, Master of Ceremonies and Stage Director - William Halpin for an evening of popular arias under the stars. Everyone will savor food and wine from the finest restaurants while hearing some of the most beloved Italian and French opera arias, duets, trios, and quartets from Mozart, Donizetti, Bizet, Verdi, and Puccini, sung by our internationally known Hartford Festival Singers. Both the novice and seasoned opera lover will enjoy this truly unique program.

The famed Motown group, the Four Tops, launched Riverfront Recapture's 25th anniversary season with a rousing performance. The events schedule that followed included a rich variety of music, including Opera al Fresco - featuring seven singers, a 35-piece orchestra, and romantic arias at the river's edge.

JULY 2008
Jump, Jive and Swing al Fresco features the Swing Tunes and Lindy Hop of the 1940’s and 50’s, performed by the 16-piece The Smokin’ Hot Big Band, under the musical direction of Brian Sparks with two swing-jazz singers, plus 16 dancers - The Jive Cat Dancers in a free performance that is open to the public. The program will include jump tunes from the 1940’s such as: Caribbean Clipper of Glenn Miller, We’ll Get Itfrom Tommy Dorsey’s band, as well as Jump, Jive and Wail by Brian Setzer. Our Jive Cat Dancers will perform in costumes appropriate to the 1940’s and 50’s, with narration by masters of ceremonies, WINY Radio Host Gary Osprey and Music Director, Brian Sparks, who will describe each of the musical selections, even establishing a Lindy Hop Dance Contest.
