Music Director

Brian Sparks is a musician of international distinction whose venues include the American Academy in Rome, the Manoel Theatre in Valletta, Malta, the Instituto de Bellas Artes in Morellia, Mexico and Octobersky Hall, St. Petersburg, Russia.

 

He has performed with the New York Pops, the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, the Lakewood Philharmonic, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic.

A native of California, he is formerly on the faculty of the University of California at Irvine, Chapman University, as conductor of the Wind Ensemble, Loma Linda University and East Los Angeles College as Director of Bands and Orchestras.

Presently, Brian is the conductor and founder of the recently formed Ocean State Winds, No Strings Attached, presenting an innovative dramatized concert entitled - Mozart in America. He has also been the Director of the Hartford Festival Orchestra since 1997, performing what the National Endowment on the Arts calls a "must see event" - Guitar Under the Stars with the Dan Salazar Ensemble. A former conductor of the U.S. Coast Guard Chamber Players, he is now on the music faculty at Brown University and the University of Rhode Island. Brian has guest- conducted the United States Coast Guard Band, the United States Military Academy Band, Central Connecticut University Wind Ensemble, and the New Haven Wind Symphony.
